Robert A. Welch is the founder and owner of Jelani Design and Associates. He established his design consultant office in 1984, following eleven years prior experience in the design field in association with companies such as General Motors, Texas Instruments, and Rockwell International.
Jelani Design and Associates designs any marketable product; and to date these designs include calculators, computers, telephone systems, pens, watches, logo graphics, furniture, lighting, executive aircraft interiors, and custom coach interiors.
Robert Welch taught Interior Design, Furniture Design, Workroom Processes and Delineation at the University of Texas in Austin for twelve years. In addition to having fifteen design patents to his credit, he was selected to be a member of the Smithsonian Institute’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum African American Design Archive, in August of 1998. In 2007 Mr. Welch was asked to display his work in the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry.
